Warrior

Feeling out of place
Craving for familiar faces
Longing for warm welcomes
Aching for the sense of belonging

Trying to keep it together
Defeated?
Isolated?
Anxious?
Not at all!

A warrior of light never gives up
A warrior of love is never alone
But a warrior is always challenged
Invited to look within

It isn’t easy to start anew
Walking through unknown paths
Holding faith very tight
Allowing patience to guide the way
Embracing contentment until the end

Sometimes loneliness is suffocating
Patience runs out
Faith is nowhere to be found
And contentment seems a fairy tale

Wondering on and off
On all I know
Doubting anything
Suspicious of everything

Breathing in and out
Reconnecting with the self
Acknowledging who I am

Displaced…
Learning…
Growing…

Wow Gabriello .. I think that most of us can relate to these feelings of displacement, I know I have felt them at various times throughout my life.

Wonderful poem, photo and reflection. For some reason the song "Bloodshot Eyes" by Trampled by Turtles came in my head as I both looked at the photo and read your poem. Check it out.

I think this is a poem of self discovery. It feels like that peeling of self that one goes through on the journey as a poet. It continues forever. I recall a conversation I had with a friend recently. We were saying, just about the time you think you know exactly who you are, life and circumstances have changed you in a way that requires re-defining. Good work. Thank you, Gay (@beachanny)

what an outstanding piece,
full of texture and sentiments,
yet,
upbeat!
love to know that growth and learning take place in the end.
Brilliant job!

…and it's so hard to be a warrior and always have to fight - sometimes we just need a place to rest for a bit…i can feel the struggle and emotion in your piece..and the wish to grow that goes with it..

A tale of bravery in the face of the unknown.

Yes, starting anew (it's one word by the way, not two) can be quite difficult, but this sounds like someone who's accepting the challenge head-on.

Nice One Shot!

Contentment...a fairy tale? I feel this deep inside the marrow of each and every bone, as if the skeleton of me agrees and breaks apart within, while my skin, what others see, reeks of a contentment I do not know.

I love the push and pull of emotion in this piece. I sense a striving - in the midst of the doubt learning is taking place.

What an achievement of expression

Thanks Gabriela for sharing at One Shot

i love your faith and sense of resolve, like you're standing on a perch with a good view of something we all want to see.
the warrior theme works so well, especially how you used 'warrior' exactly three times back-to-back-to-back.

Lovely. This is a place we have all been at one time or another. We would all hope to handle it as well as your warrior.
